Individuals
We are often asked whether we offer any activities for individuals/private persons. For this reason, we have created the following programme.
Here, you don’t simply watch, you are involved from A to Z. From experienced mushers who have raced thousands of kilometres – in the toughest stage races and the most northern long-distance sled dog races in the world – you will learn the ropes of the sled dog sport. This means that it will be you who does most of the work!
It’ not a question of just standing on the sled behind the dogs and expecting them to pull you along in circles, as is normally the case with tourists.
You will “work” with dogs who can run up to 200km a day, several days in a row.
You will use professional equipment such as our original long-distance sled.
You will benefit from our unique expertise and sound knowledge of sled dogs.
You will be guided by mushers who know what they are talking about.
…but above all…
you will experience sled dogs who know what it’s all about andtherefor have a tendency to act on the sly side….but are equally incredibly trusting and lovable.
Having first passed a ‘trial test’ on a small and well-visible trail, you will go with a small team of dogs along a somewhat longer route with a few diversions…and then we will see what the dogs will do with you.
…speaking of letting the dogs do their own thing…this has resulted in them saving the life of our long-distance musher not once but twice…ask us about it at the event if you want to hear more.
The crowning moment of the day is a ride with the sled dog team – but not with the main characters. You will learn much about how to handle sled dogs. It goes without saying that you will work with authentic material.
Round off the day
After such an eventful day, you have the optional of enjoying with us a well-earned hearty meal or a tasty fondue. This gives you the opportunity to ask further questions or to listen to the musher once he starts on his stories. Sometimes he also shows pictures of our racing team up in the far north.
